Brunswick – Mildred C. Anderson, 75, of Willow Grove Road died Thursday, June 24, at the Highlands in Topsham.

She was born in Bridgeport, Conn., on February 5, 1935 the daughter of Salvadore and Philomena Ragonese. She graduated from Bassick High School in Connecticut, and moved to California shortly after graduation.

She married Richard O. Anderson in San Francisco, Calif. on Dec. 26, 1960 and they were married for 48 years until Rich's death on August 11, 2008. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, and during that time they lived in Seal Beach and Monterey, Calif., Corpus Christi, Texas, Patuxent River, Md, and Hamilton, Bermuda. They moved to Brunswick in 1972 where they eventually retired and lived on Barrows and Willow Grove roads.

Millie raised three children and was devoted to her family. She was very active in her community and at St. Charles Borromeo Church. She volunteered for numerous years as a cook at the local Soup Kitchen, drove cancer patients to chemotherapy and radiation appointments, taught developmentally delayed children to bowl and visited children suffering from cancer.

Millie was an avid bowler for years, playing on a woman's bowling league and achieving several 200 point games! She enjoyed music and dancing, traveling, skiing, entertaining, cooking, knitting, and reading.

Surviving are two sons, Eric C. Anderson of Brunswick and Richard B. Anderson of Charleston, New Hampshire; a daughter, Amy K. Anderson of Portland; and two grandchildren, Mary and Brian Anderson of New Hampshire.

Millie was predeceased by her husband and four sisters: Rachel Ragonese, Mary Ness, Frankie Webb and Phylis Ragonese.

Services were held at Stetson's Funeral Home on Saturday, June 26 and the internment was at Pine Grove Cemetery in Brunswick.
