Orrs Island-Jerry E. Wallace Jr., age 68, passed away Tuesday, January 4th at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. He was born October 25, 1942 in Bath, the son of Jerry Sr. and Hazel Smith Wallace.
He was educated in Phippsburg schools, graduated from Morse High School and immediately entered the U.S. Army. Jerry was promoted quickly and enjoyed his time in the service and his military buddies.
Jerry worked as a fisherman most of his life and he always remembered a time he got caught at sea during a storm, experiencing great relief upon return to dry land.
He was also a handyman doing everything from carpeting to delivering milk. Jerry enjoyed hunting, playing cards, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed the many summer visits from his grandchildren.
The perfect motto for Jerry would be "Do not fence me in!”
Jerry was quite a jokester and his family and friends enjoyed his sense of humor. He loved Dunkin Donuts coffee and often referred to the shop as his office.
Jerry attended the United Methodist Church of Orr's Island.
He is survived by his wife Christi of Orr's Island, son Christian Wallace and wife Shelby of Biloxi, Mis., 4 daughters Stepheni Wallace of Germany, Missy Manguno and husband Bart of Bethlehem, PA, Kelly Younkin of Stowe, PA, and Keri Stelmack of Baltimore, MD, and several grandchildren. His is also survived by 2 brothers Gary Wallace of Phippsburg and Kevin Wallace of Brunswick, 6 sisters Harriet York of Brunswick, Grace Moore, Janet Wyman, and Natalie Alexander, all of Phippsburg, Sandra Anderson and Jean Wallace both of Brunswick, 2 step daughters Alicia Moreau and husband Brandon of Whitefield, and Heather Gilliam of Bath, and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by a brother Joseph Wallace and a sister Diane Wallace.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, January 7th from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Stetson's Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick where a funeral service with military honors will be held on Saturday, January 8th at 1PM. Burial in Morningside Cemetery, Phippsburg will be held in the spring.
