Bowdoinham – Irvin G. Temple age 88 of 53 Main Street died Thursday, February 21st at Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick. He was born in Bowdoinham November 7, 1924 the son of Alby and Clara (Leavitt) Temple. After graduating from Bowdoinham High School in 1943, he joined the U. S. Navy.
On May 1, 1948 he married Margaret F. Muise.
Irvin worked at Marriner Lumber for five years. He then worked at Bowdoinham fertilizer companies for 40 years.
He was on many community services including fire chief assistant, fire chief, assisted constable, school construction committee, finance committee, credit union committee, deputy forestry warden, three terms as selectman, superintendent of water district, industrial board and public weigher.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, snowmobiling, flying airplanes, motorcycle riding, and especially the cross country camping trip that he had always wanted to do.
He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Margaret Temple of Bowdoinham, his daughters Kathleen Skelton and Deborah Gross of Lisbon Falls. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Alby and Clara Temple, his brother Fred "Snap” Temple, his sister Viola Christine "Teen” Moore and his son, Bruce Temple.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, February 26th from 2-4 & 6-8PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 27th at 11 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald McLaughlin officiating.
Spring interment with military honors will be in Bay View Cemetery Bowdoinham.
