Topsham Althea J. Vose of 43 Marc Ave. Topsham, died March 1st at the Mid Coast Senior Health Center in Brunswick.
She was born September 17, 1916 in Gardiner, the daughter of Raymond and Minnie Merrill. She attended schools in Belfast and was a graduate of Crosby High School class of 1934. She worked as the manager of cosmetic department of Senter’s Department Store for several years. Upon her retirement she and her husband owned and operated a grocery store on Tacoma Lakes in Litchfield, moving back to the Brunswick area in 1983.
On October 28, 1934 she married Edward Vose. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, in 1992.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and a member of Eastern Star.
She enjoyed their cottage on the Tacoma lakes. In her earlier days she enjoyed snowmobiling with friends and working outdoors around her residence and visiting old friends.
Mrs. Vose is survived by two sons and daughter in-laws, Paul and Sue Vose of Derry ,N.H., Fred and Saundra Vose of Brunswick; two daughters and son in-law Joan and Wallace Staples of Dayton, TX., and Paula Robbins of Topsham; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-children and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
There are no calling hours.
