Freeport- Michael H. Kennett, age 50 of Keystone Drive, passed away Saturday, October 22 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.  He was born September 10, 1966 in Princeton, NJ, the son of Walter Hoyt Jr. and Lura Price Kennett.

He graduated from Freeport High School in 1985 and began a lifetime career as a carpenter.  He was very meticulous about his work and took great pride in his achievements.

On August 11, 1990, he married his high school sweetheart, Patti Hamblen.  They always celebrated their anniversary by attending a great pig roast.

Michael was a family man and a home body and enjoyed being on his back deck, where he liked to grill.  He also liked to play darts and horseshoes.  He and his best friend, Mr. Jax, his dog, did everything together.

He was an honorary employee at Toddy Brook, which was his home away from home.  Michael was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and Nascar.  He was an avid reader and he loved history, especially the war years.  When he was laid up due to an injury, he was known to be caught watching Judge Judy.

Mike was a terrific son, brother, husband, dad and grandfather.  He was an honest man with a big heart who would drop everything to help anyone in need.  It was never about Michael, he always put others before himself.

Besides his wife Patti of Freeport, he is survived by his children Sarah Kennett and her fiancé Chris Pennell, Ryan Hoyt Kennett and his wife Katie, and Rebecca Kennett, all of Freeport, his brother Robert Kennett and his wife Sharon of Bowdoin, his grandson Mason Hoyt Pennell, his best friend Mr. Jax, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, October 29 from 10AM to 2 PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick where a celebration of his life will follow at 2 PM.  A gathering at Toddy Brook, 925 Sligo Road, Yarmouth, ME 04097 will continue the celebration of his life at 4 PM, after the service on Saturday.

Donations to the family will be collected at Toddy Brook.Condolences may be expressed at stetsonsfuneralhom.com
