Richard E. Davis

Brunswick-Richard E. Davis, age 66 of Bowker St., died Monday, May 1st peacefully at home with his family and beloved dog, Annie, by his side.  He was born in Bath, March 2, 1951, the son of Clinton E. and Harriet L. Burgess Davis.

He attended Woolwich Central School and was a 1969 graduate of Morse High School.  Richard graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Forestry Management in 1973.

On August 10, 1974 he married Martha P. Walch.

They lived in Dresden from 1986 to 2011.Richard worked at WT Grants from 1974-1976, Grand City from 1976-2010, and Hannaford Brothers from 2010 until his retirement in 2015.

He enjoyed ice fishing, gardening, and traveling; especially to visit his grandchildren.

He was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America.  He was a Webelos Den Leader and Cubmaster of Pack 680 in Dresden and an Assistant Scout Master of Troop 201 in Wiscasset. He achieved the Order of the Arrow and the Boy Scouts Life Saving Badge.  He enjoyed Camp Hinds, Camp Roosevelt, and especially Camp Bomazeen.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woolwich.

Besides his wife Martha of Brunswick, he is survived by his Father, Clinton E. Davis and his wife Paula of Woolwich, two sons, Kevin E. Davis and his wife Kristy of Syracuse, NY, and Timothy S. Davis and his wife Heather of Bonaire, GA, a sister, Catherine Libby and her partner Art Vuilleumier, of South Portland, ME, two brother-in laws, Stephen Walch and his wife Laura of Sacramento, CA, and Dennis Walch and his wife Theresa of Westbrook, ME, four grandchildren, Brady E. and Logan P. Davis of Syracuse, NY, Isabelle M. and Joshua S. Davis of Bonaire, GA, ten nieces and nephews and four great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by special friends, James Main (an ice fishing buddy) and family, Scott Anderson (college roommate and chemo-buddy) and family, and Chanel Fortin.

He was predeceased by his mother and a sister, Cynthia E. Crocker.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, May 4th from 5-7PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick where a funeral service will be held Friday, May 5th at 11 AM.  Burial will be in Varney Cemetery, Brunswick.
