Charlene F Beedy, of Portland Maine, left us September 8th, 2017 to join her true love while surrounded by her adoring family.

Charlene was born in Dexter Maine on July 20th 1931. The loving daughter of Louis and Alida Clukey- Curty.

She attended Dexter High school and graduated in 1949. The Dexter newspapers often referred to her as "Maine’s Own Shirley Temple”. She was engaged in the music program through high school and was known for playing the base vile.

On February 24th 1951 she married Roger C Beedy of Dexter. He would tell you it was the best decision of her life! They would have been celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary the year he passed away. He died May 8th 1998. Charlene’s heart was never quite the same. Their relationship was unmatched.  They were the Scarlet and Rhett of their time. When you saw one, you saw the other. After Roger retired he even drove Charlene to and from work every day to make sure she was safe.

Charlene worked for many years with Ear Nose Throat Specialist Dr. Marvin Adams in Portland Maine.

Charlene’s family will forever remember her for jet black hair, her candor, and the way she lit up the room.

She had such a way around the kitchen, we will all miss her pie crusts, her fish chowder and the way she made clam dip! She was always the most gracious hostess. She and Rog were always entertaining or in the car on their next adventure.

She loved to talk about her family past and present, tell stories about them, laugh about things they said and did. Did we ever laugh. Now we will be doing the same of her. Sharing stories with our children and remembering how she touched all of our lives in such a genuine way.

She always had this wonderful way of turning everything that made us cry into something that made us laugh. Today we are hoping she will help us find a way to do that.

She is survived by her loving children, Andrea Goulette of Portland and Scott Beedy and wife Cindy of Harpswell. Four adoring Grandchildren, Allison Dorsey-Plante and husband Ryan Plante of Virginia, Josh Goulette of Portland, Jamison Beedy of Kingfield and Katelyn Beedy of Harpswell. Four Great Grandchildren Christian Goulette, Ava Dorsey, Tavia Goulette and Lincoln Plante. She is also survived by five loving nieces and nephews Barry, Garry, & Kerry Connell, Kevin Curty & Brenda Nelson and their lovely families.

A visiting hour will be held from 3-4 PM Wednesday, September 13th at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick, where a funeral service will follow at 4 PM. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Orono at 11 AM Thursday. Memorial condolences may be expressed at stetsonsfuneralhome.con
