Matthew Raymond Stevens of Yarmouth, formerly of Topsham and Bowdoin passed away on Sunday October 29, 2017 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Brunswick.  Matthew was born on July 26, 1985 at Parkview Hospital to Herbert Stevens of Bowdoin and Katarina Lafuente currently of Topsham.

Matthew graduated from Mt. Ararat High School in 2003.  He went on to work for Hannaford Supermarkets in Topsham, Yarmouth and Brunswick before working for Coca Cola Bottling Company.

Matthew found great joy and satisfaction hanging out with his friends on area Disc Golf Courses, where he could be found competing and striving to move his game to new heights.  In fact, if he wasn’t working, he was either playing Disc Golf, talking about Disc Golf, or planning the next game.

Ultimately the love of Matthew’s life was his little girl Allyssia for whom his heart always soared.  Spending time with her when she was in town was something that he couldn’t get enough of and always looked forward to.  She was the reason why he strived to be a better man, someone she could be proud of.

Matthew is predeceased by his grandparents, George and Magdalene Stevens of Pejepscot, Victor and Anna Volkorez of Brunswick and Granville Johnson of Bailey Island. He is survived by his mother, Katarina Lafuente of Topsham, his father Herbert Stevens and his wife Lori of Bowdoin, a brother Ben Leeman of Brunswick, a sister Joy Carr and her husband Jeff of Lisbon Falls, a grandmother Joan Johnson of Bailey Island, numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

A celebration of Matt’s life will be held at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal Street in Brunswick on Saturday November 4, 2017 at 2PM.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Coastal Humane Society, 190 Pleasant St., Brunswick Maine 04011.
