Topsham- F. Martin Baker, 71 of Elm Street died Saturday, December 9th peacefully with his family by his side.

He was born in Brunswick, January 29th, 1946 a son of Priscilla and Clayton Baker. On September 26th, 1964, Marty married the love of his life, Loretta.

Martin "The Waterman” Baker, started Martin Baker Well Drilling in 1974. Along, with his well drilling business, Martin went on to own and operate MB Transport. During his career, he ventured to Kentucky to drill oil wells. 

In his earlier years, Martin enjoyed hunting, being down on the islands and visiting with his dear friends, Johnny, Ricky and Lucky. As time went on, he stayed busy with the grandchildren and teaching some of them how to drive. 

He is predeceased by his wife Loretta in 2004. His brother Skip and parents Priscilla and Clayton.

Martin is survived by his son Adam Baker and wife Sandra of Harmony, his daughter Heidi O’Leary and husband Shawn of Oakland, his son Erik Baker and wife Tammie of Brunswick, his daughter Jodi Reeves and her husband Don of Brunswick. He had eight grandchildren, Meaghan and Matthew O’leary, Emily and Ryan Baker, Martina and Arianna Baker, Jake and Greyson Reeves.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday December 13th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.  A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 14th at 1PM at the Bailey Island Church, 2141 Harpswell Islands Road, Bailey Island, ME 04003. 

Burial in the spring will be in Orr’s Island Cemetery.
