Topsham - LaVerne Roy Wenger, 81 of Mallet Drive died Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at his home.

He was born in Lancaster, PA on February 23, 1937 the son of Lloyd Wenger Sr. and Reba Hallman Wenger.

Roy joined the Navy in 1955 and served for 20 years retiring in 1974.  He then went on to work at BIW for 28 years before fully retiring.

He married Louise T. Elwell of Brunswick on December 18, 1976.

He enjoyed visiting with his children, spending time with his grandchildren and visiting his friends at McDonalds.

He was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Brunswick.

He is predeceased by his father Lloyd Wenger Sr. and his mother Reba Wenger. His sisters Betty Tyson and Annabelle Deabler and his brother Lloyd Wenger Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Louise Wenger of Topsham, 5 sons: Joseph Wakey and his wife Cherie of Tampa, Fl., Chad Wenger and his wife Jessica of Pasadena, MD., Roy Wenger and his wife Sheila of Bowdoin, Christopher Wenger and his girlfriend Christina of Hollis and Justin Wenger of Brunswick.  5 grandsons, 2 step grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 1 step granddaughter and 1 great granddaughter, two sisters Velma Hershey of New Howland, PA. and Linda Strauss and her husband Tom of Millersville, PA.  A sister-in-law Sherry Wenger of Indiana, as well 6 step children and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, August 26th from 2-4 PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A funeral service will be held Monday August 27th at 11 AM at the funeral Home with the Rev. Sharon Lovejoy officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Maquoit Cemetery, Brunswick.
