Sonny F Williams

November 22, 1932 - February 9, 2010

Topsham-Sonny (Talbert) F. Williams age 77 of Tracy Lane died Tuesday, February 9th at the Mid Coast Hospital.
He was born in Bath on November 22, 1932 the son of William and Elva Rogerson Williams. He attended Bath schools. Sonny served in the Army during the Korean War.
For several years Sonny worked as a truck driver for Sewall & Sons in Brunswick. For 27 years Sonny worked for the Topsham Police Department working his way from patrolman to detective retiring in 1996.
On July 27, 1986 he married the former Pauline (Marie) Thiboutot.
After retiring Sonny worked security at the Bowdoin Mill for Fore River Management Company until becoming ill.
Sonny was very dedicated to foster children and has had 33 foster children reside with him throughout his life.
Sonny enjoyed fishing and lobstering and watching the natural wildlife around his home. Sonny also enjoyed watching his certain favorite television shows daily including his favorite “Judge” shows.
Sonny was a member of the Topsham American Legion Post and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving besides his wife Pauline of Topsham is a son Richard Williams and his wife Mary and a daughter Brandi Williams all of Silverhill, AL. Three stepsons William Basinet and his wife Laurie of Westbrook, Roger Basinet of Brunswick and Danny Basinet of Topsham. Two fosters sons Jimmy Bowmen of Robertsdale, AL and William Contreras and his wife Dottie of Topsham. Three brothers Alan Williams and his wife Dot of Harpswell, Larry Douglas and his wife Nancy of Auburn and Carl Douglas and his wife Mildred of Hebron. Two sisters Beatrice Beleau of Lebanon, NH and Janice Bolduc of Sabattus. Also survived by eighteen grandchildren and a great grandchild.
He was predeceased by a sister Jodi Wright of Gloucester, MA in 2009.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, February 12th from 2-4 &6-8 PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 13th at 11 AM at the funeral home. Spring interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery Brunswick.
