Edward Wainer

Brunswick-Edward Wainer age 83 of Casco Road died Thursday, March 11th at the Parkview Adventist Medical Center.

He was born in Fairfield June 19, 1926 the son of William and Annie Ostafyczuk Wainer. Ed attended Fairfield schools.

On a trip to California, Ed ended up in Rhode Island assisting his brother in the operation of the produce department. He continued to work for his brother until drafted to serve in the Army. From 1944-1946 Ed served in WWII combat volunteering to serve with the Airborne Division earning rifleman status and his glider wings. Ed also earned his Army of Occupation Medal, European Africian Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and his WWII Victory Medal.

On July 5, 1947 he married Beth Lacroix and they lived in Oakland. She died December 3, 1994.

Ed worked in produce most of his entire working career. In 1956 they moved to Brunswick working in produce at Cottle's/ Hannaford Supermarket where he worked until retiring.

Ed was a family man, spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed dancing and music. Ed was a Boston Celtic Basketball and a NY Giants Football fan.

For many years he served as an usher at St. Charles Borromeo Church.

Surviving are four sons Bill, Mark, Joe and, John. Two brothers, Stephen and Peter. Eight grandchildren Orion, Corey, Jean, Nicky, Jennifer, Sarah, Jason, and Eileen.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, March 17th from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at

Stetson's Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 18th at 10 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church McKeen St. Brunswick.
