Walter W. Weller Jr.

Brunswick, Maine-Walter W. Weller, Jr. age 87 of Brickyard Court died Thursday, April 15 at his residence. He was born in Baltimore, MD August 23, 1922 the son of the late Walter William and Edna (Renn) Weller.

He attended East Orange, NJ Schools graduating in 1940. He went on to graduate from Muhlenberg College with an AB in 1946, Rutgers University with a BS in 1950, and Harvard University AMP in 1971.

Walter served in the Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1945.

Mr. Weller was employed with Hoffman LaRoche, Inc., Nutley, NJ where he served as an Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer, Vice-President of Finance, Administrative Vice-President, and a Director on the Executive Committee. He retired from Roche in 1977.

He was Director and Secretary of Multivision Corporation; Director, the Ultimate Corporation, and Director, Intercontinental Life Insurance Company.

In New Jersey he served as Chairman, Public Market Commission, a Member of the Economic Council, a Trustee of Hospital Center, Orange, NJ. He was Fund Chairman, United Way of Passaic Valley, Fund Chairman Essex County Boy Scouts of America, Chairman, Essex County United Way Fund, Chairman, Essex County Reform Republican Party.

Acting President and Chairman Upsala College, Board of Trustees. Treasurer, US Jaycees; Advisory Committee for the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts; Life Trustee, Muhlenberg College.

Mr. Weller received the B,Nai B,Rith Presidential Citation, the US Capital Cornerstone Medal Award, the Alpha Tau Omega Reno Achievement Award, the Muhlenberg College Alumni Achievement Award, and the Upsala College Non-Alumni Achievement Award.

In Maine, he is a member of The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a member of the Cumberland Club in Portland, ME.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Doughty Weller, his sister Mrs. James (Betty) Clark of Baxter Springs, KA, his son Walter W. Weller, III, of Lexington, KY, his daughter Christel of Long Valley, NJ, his step-children Barbara Yeager of Monroe, CT, Susan Swanson of Bath, ME, Ellen Buselli of NYC, John Buselli of Danville, CA, Michele Smith of Clifton Park, NY, and 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Walt was predeceased by his wife Christel N. Weller on December of 1987 and June Buselli Weller on February of 1996, a daughter Cheryl on July 14, 1954 and a sister Mrs. William Fletcher on November 5, 1987.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday May 1, 2010 at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, NJ.
