Topsham-Dorothy B. Hall, age 90 formerly of River Road in Brunswick passed away Saturday, March 12th at Amenity Manor.

She was born December 1, 1920 in Keswick, N.B. Canada, the daughter of Elwood and Jennie Lipsett Boone. She came to the U.S. in the late 1930's to study nursing eventually becoming an LPN.

On November 11, 1942 she married Roland Hall after meeting him as a patient on the operating table during an emergency appendectomy.

Dorothy was a nurse in the Brunswick area for over 50 years, opening the first obstetrics unit at Parkview Hospital. It is hard to find individuals in the Brunswick area who weren't either delivered by Dorothy or have children who were delivered by her. She was very well known for her excellent nursing skills.

Dorothy was an excellent cook and always had homemade bread at home and ready to give to friends and neighbors. She loved to entertain Navy families who moved into the area, becoming their adopted mother and grandmother. She was a master knitter providing hats, socks, mittens and sweaters to her own children and those of the next generation. She loved Canada and visited often with her children during the summer months.

She was a member of the Berean Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son David Hall and his wife Claire of Bow, NH, a daughter Kathaleen Torrence of Virginia Beach, VA, 7 grandchildren Kevin M. Bergstedt and wife Robyn, Jeffrey A. Bergstedt and fiancée Mayumi Hino, Christopher D. Bergstedt and wife Suzanne, Andrew D. Hall and fiancée Stephanie Gassett, Janet R. Johnson and husband Brandon, Karen E. Hall, and Daniel S. Hall and wife Kristy, and 8 great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Roland Hall, and 3 sisters Marion Harrison, Helen Wood and Iris Rae.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, March 16th at the Berean Baptist Church, 15 Cumberland St., Brunswick from 10-11AM, where a funeral service will follow at 11AM with the Rev. Mark Rockwood officiating.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Berean Baptist Church, 15 Cumberland St., Brunswick, ME 04011 or to Stonecroft Ministries, Acct.# 4003, in Memory of Dorothy Hall, 236 Upperville Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
