Muriel T. Mehlhorn

Brunswick- Muriel T. Mehlhorn, age 83 of Webb Field Road, died
Wednesday, March 30th at her residence. She was born July 9, 1927 in
Amesbury, MA the daughter of Antonio and Adelia Rouillard Pouliot.
She graduated from Morse High School in 1946, where she was an honor
essayist, treasurer of the class and Mohiba Queen. She then graduated
from Wilfred Academy, becoming a beautician, owning and operating the
Lynn Carole Shoppe in Bath.

On February 3, 1949 she married Robert Mehlhorn while he was a student
at Bowdoin College. After Bob's graduation from Bowdoin, they moved
to New Jersey and started what was to become a large family. During
this time, Muriel took interior decorating classes at Rutgers University.

She and Bob moved back to Maine in 1958, when they purchased Troops
Hardware in Bath. She continued to raise her family and volunteered
in the library at Jordan Acres Elementary School in Brunswick. Later,
she became a library assistant at Bowdoin College, retiring in 1989.

During retirement, she and Bob traveled by motor home to the provinces
of Canada, throughout Alaska and many other states. Later, they did
the same throughout New Zealand and Australia. They wintered in Fort
Pierce, FL and summered on Mere Point in Maine.

Muriel was an expert quilter and enjoyed knitting, cross stitching and
playing bridge and cribbage. She played endless card games with her
grandchildren, endowing them with a great competitive spirit.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert Mehlhorn of
Brunswick, seven children: Gail Mehlhorn of Bath, Robert Mehlhorn and
wife Heather of Scarborough, Gregory Mehlhorn and wife Maureen of East
Waterboro, Paul Mehlhorn and wife Zan of North Berwick, Peter Mehlhorn
and wife Jean of Nobelboro, Nancy Percy and husband Robert of Dresden,
and James Mehlhorn of Freeport, 18 grandchildren: Mason and Micah
Loveitt, Elsie Rose and Adelia Jean Mehlhorn, Gregory, Patrick,
Michael and Griffin Mehlhorn, Avery and Keegan Mehlhorn, Samantha,
Forrest, Alison, and Austin Mehlhorn, Robert III, Megan and Corbin
Percy, and Aubrey Pennell-Mehlhorn; brother Everett Pouliot and wife
Marilyn of Pawcatuck, CT, sisters Joan Tomany of East Hartford, CT,
Loretta Ezell and husband Cooper of Huntsville, AL, and Madeline Beadreau and
husband Raymond of Willimantic, ME and several neices and nephews.

Muriel is predeceased by 2 brothers: Roland and Ivan Pouliot.

There will be no services. Donations in her memory may be made to the
Morse High School Alumni Fund, 826 High St., Bath, ME 04530.
