Phippsburg- Richard "Dickie" E. LeMont, age 43 of LeMont Way, passed Thursday, April 21st in Phippsburg. He was born October 6, 1967 in Bath, the son of John and Martha Ross LeMont. He attended Phippsburg schools and graduated from Morse High School in 1985.

Dickie started digging clams as a young boy and worked at Bodwell Motors for a few years, where he met his wife Cindy Palmertree. They were married October 26, 1990, spending over 20 years happily together in their Phippsburg home. After leaving Bodwell Motors, he was self-employed, doing various odd jobs, including building docks and floats in Phippsburg and Popham.

He was an active member of the Phippsburg community. He served for 20 years as the chairman of the Phippsburg Shellfish Conservation Commission and served on the Harbor commission. He was involved in other committees in the state over the years, trying to keep clam flats open in the state and performing water tests on the Kennebec River in order to help with that effort. He worked with the Department of Marine Resources, was an active member of the Phippsburg Sportsman’s Association, helping to organize their annual fishing derby.


An avid outdoorsman, Dick loved hunting, and fishing, His family and Friends meant so much to him and he cherished his life with his wife Cindy and his golden retriever, Tasha.


He is survived by his father John LeMont and his wife Joyce of Phippsburg, his mother Martha Steen of Phippsburg, his wife Cindy of Phippsburg, 3 brothers Paul LeMont of Brunswick, Teddy LeMont and Cecil Kane, both of Phippsburg, a son Michael LeMont of Bath, in-laws Patty Clark of Cundys Harbor, Billy Palmertree of Lisbon Falls, Bobby Palmertree of Brunswick, and Pam Kane of Phippsburg, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Memorial visiting hours will be held Friday, April 29th from 6-8PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30th at 2PM at Phippsburg Elementary School, Rt. 209, Main Road, Phippsburg. Burial will follow at Morningside Cemetery, Phippsburg. A reception will be held at the Phippsburg Sportsman’s Club immediately after the burial
