Roland L. Brillant

Brunswick-Roland Lucien Brillant age 76 of Elwell Lane died Sunday, August 7th at the Mid Coast Senior Health Center, Bodwell Unit in Brunswick.

He was born in Brunswick, May 14, 1935 the son of Lucien and Loretta Bernier Brillant. He attended Brunswick schools and earned his GED in 1992.

On October 18, 1958 he married Cynthia Richards. Roland was predeceased by his wife of 48 years of marriage on June 13, 2007. Roland was also predeceased by his parents.

Roland was a devoted, loving husband caring for his wife tirelessly for many years during her failing health.
Roland retired from Bath Iron Works after 26 years as a Production Control Coordinator. While working at BIW, Roland held a second job working at Grossman’s. After retiring from BIW he went to work at Shaw’s Supermarket retiring after 18 years due to ill health.

Roland enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, Portland Sea Dogs and the Florida Marlins baseball teams. Roland also enjoyed watching the New York Giants football team. Roland took pleasure in gardening, woodworking and watching wildlife. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren play sports in high school.

For many years Roland was a call firefighter for the Brunswick Fire Department. Roland was also a member of the Topsham Grange and was a member of The Maine Street Baptist Church.

Surviving is a son Michael Brillant of Durham. Two daughters Donna Lavigne and her husband Mark of Bowdoinham and Maria Morris and her husband Rob of West Bath. A sister Lucy Earl of Brunswick and a brother Robert Brillant of Topsham. Four grandchildren Hope and Courtney Lavigne, Laura Thomas and Lynn Morris. Four great grandchildren Austin Perry, Alexis Hultman, Micah and Boyd Thomas.

A visiting hour will be held from 2-3PM, Friday, August 12th at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A funeral service will follow at 3PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Dale Morell officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Brunswick.
