Brunswick-Carolyn Jane (Kingsbury) Lancaster age 79 of Brookmere Way died Monday, August 29th at Parkview Adventist Medical Center.

Carol was born in Newton, MA on November 8, 1931 the daughter of Kenneth and Anne (Bennett) Kingsbury. She attended Newton Centre schools and graduated from Brighton High School in 1949. Upon completion of high school Carolyn was employed by Boston Edison Company as a secretary until 1957.

On October 12, 1956 she married Richard H. Lancaster Sr. and they honeymooned through New England and made their first home in Rockland, MA. In October of 1960 they moved with their two young children to Boody Street in Brunswick.  Carol was a full time homemaker until 1967 when she went to work in the Admissions Office at Bowdoin College. In 1978 Carol became Administrative Secretary to the Director of Admissions and held that position until her retirement in 1991.

Deciding her retirement came a bit too early for her liking, she returned to work part time in the Bowdoin College Athletic Department and remained there until 1997.

In 1991 Carol was elected an honorary member of the Bowdoin Alumni Association. Carol was active with Bowdoin Friends, People Plus Center, Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary and Parkview Hospital Auxiliary and was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church- All Saints Parish.

Carol volunteered at Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Soup Kitchen, Parkview Hospital and St. Charles Borromeo Church.

Carolyn enjoyed her children and grandchildren, tending her flowers garden, needlepoint and puzzles (especially the daily jumble) as well as traveling. Carol truly enjoying the trips she took with her husband to France and England and their 40th wedding anniversary cruise they took to Alaska.
From 1992-2007 they spent time in Florida along the west coast, eventually deciding to spend their winters in Naples.

Surviving besides her husband of 54 years is a son Richard Jr. and his wife Mary of Brunswick. A daughter Anne and her husband Timothy Morong of Phippsburg. Grandchildren Jordan and Brett Lancaster, Joseph Clancy III and Kayla Morong.  A sister Barbara Audet of Northboro, MA. Two sister and brother in-laws, Joan and Henry Bouchard of Brunswick, Janice and Peter Bastow Sr. of Oakland. Carol is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday August 31st at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Thursday, September 1st at St. Charles Borromeo Church- All Saints Parish McKeen St. Brunswick. A reception will immediately follow in St. Charles Parish Hall. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Brunswick.
