Brunswick – Dennis G. Baribeau, 76, passed away peacefully at his home on McKeen surrounded by his wife and loving family on Saturday, March 9, 2013, after fighting a six month battle with cancer.  He was able to remain in his home thanks to the loving care and support of family and Hospice of Brunswick.

He was born on July 8, 1936, in Brunswick to Louise Benoit Baribeau and Gerard Anthony Baribeau.  Dennis spent most of his life in the Brunswick area.  He attended St. John’s School and graduated from the eighth grade in 1950.  He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1954 and was voted "Class Joker” his senior year. Dennis always enjoyed sharing stories of boyhood pranks with his grandchildren, reminding everyone of his mischievous nature.  Dennis worked with his father during his high school years in the cement block business which led into his future work of building.  Dennis was a self-employed builder for 25 years and built over 200 residential homes in the mid-coast area.

On July 6, 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Janet Freeman of Bailey Island.  They celebrated 55 years of marriage and their life together included a move to Jackman with their six children and the purchase of Lake Parlin Lodges, hunting and fishing camps in 1970.  After two years they moved their family to Prescott, Arizona, where they purchased a home and small "Mom and Pop” grocery store and gas station from 1972-1976.  Dennis and Janet returned to their hometown of Brunswick in 1976 where Dennis got back into the building business.  He and Janet enjoyed numerous trips cross country with their RV, with fond memories of camping and spending time with friends in Arizona and Port Aransas, Texas.

Dennis had a special love for his dogs; he always appreciated hearing and sharing a good joke.  He enjoyed yard work, gardening, and was especially proud of his home-grown tomatoes.  Fishing, golfing, reading, jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku, and trips to the casino were some of his favorite pastimes.

Most especially, Dennis was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.  His commitment to his faith and family was apparent in all that he did.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Gary Baribeau of Sumter, SC, five daughters; Deborah Achey and her husband Clayton of Jackman, Lori Graffam of Topsham, Joyce Baribeau-Pelletier of Bath, Joanie Parent of Brunswick and Denice Sharpe and her husband Matthew of Harpswell. A brother David Baribeau and his wife Margaret of Harpswell. Two sisters, Ann Baribeau of Brunswick and Patricia Martine of Portsmouth, NH. Also survived by 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, March 12th from 2-4 & 6-8PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 13th at 11 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church-All Saints Parish 132 McKeen St. Brunswick with the Rev. Richard Rice officiating.
