George Dominic St. Onge

 BRUNSWICK --  George Dominic St. Onge passed away Wednesday, October, 16 at 4:15PM at Mid Coast Hospital, Brunswick, Maine.

He was born in Brunswick Maine on July 7 1932 to Louis Philip and Josephine ( Lebel)  St. Onge.  His siblings include Reverend Louis M. St. Onge, S.J. (Deceased ), and Solange and her husband Frank (Deceased ) Fortin and their three children Patsy, Mark and Maureen.

George graduated from Brunswick High School, following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy, he served four years during the Korean War as a Hospital Corpsman:  Where most of his time was spent as an X-Ray technician aboard the heavy cruiser USS Pittsburgh CA72.

In 1955 George married Doris E. Bernier.  Both then traveled to Pittsburgh, PA, for George to attend Duquesne University where he obtained his B.S. in Pharmacy.  Together George   and Doris had three sons:  Philip St. Onge, his wife and their three children of Winslow, David St. Onge (Deceased ) and his two children  George and Todd of Palm Bay, Florida.  Robert St. Onge of Augusta and NYC and his partner John Reny of Augusta.

George worked a few years as a Pharmaceutical Representative for E.I. Lilly and Company.  He then bought and operated Dexter’s Drug Store in Winslow Maine.  During this time he was a board member of St. John’s the Parish Credit Union, Winslow and the Rotary Club of Waterville.  Later in life the couple returned to Brunswick to care for Doris’s mother Adrienne and her sister Alice.  He continued to work as a Pharmacist for the Rite Aid Corporation throughout the State of Maine.  He was a parishioner of St Johns the Baptist Church, an  avid reader, and sports enthusiast.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10AM Tuesday, October 22nd at St. Johns the Baptist Church, 39 Pleasant Street, Brunswick Maine. Committal prayers with military honors will be held at 2PM Wednesday, October 23rd at The Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery 163 Mt. Vernon Road Augusta, Maine.
