John E. Donahue

May 18, 1925 - April 28, 2015
Harpswell, Maine - John "Jack” E. Donahue, age 89, of East Cundy’s Point died Tuesday April 28, 2015 at Mid Coast Health Center in Brunswick.  He was born May 18, 1925 in Arlington, MA, the son of David J. Donahue and Charlotte Swain Donahue.  He graduated from Arlington H.S. in 1943.  He served in WWII with the 78th Infantry Division, European Theater.  He was a recipient of two Purple Hearts with Oak Leaf Cluster, as well as a recipient of the Bronze Star and the Infantry Combat Badge.  Jack was a graduate of MIT in 1948, with a BS in chemical engineering.  Thereafter, Jack was employed for 40 years with Hercules, Inc. in Wilmington, DE in sales and sales management.

Jack was a member of Brunswick Golf Club, the Paper Industry Management Association, 78th Infantry Association and All Saints Parish. 

Jack was predeceased by his wife Marie Tremblay Donahue, his sisters Pauline Lamplough, and Anne Donahue and his brother William and grandson Stephen Donahue Jr. Survivors include his wife Jacqueline Boutin Donahue, his sons John E. Jr. (Joan), Stephen (Bernadette), Christopher (Cathryn), daughters Denise Cosenzo (Benedict), Charlotte Elko (Dennis), Kathryn Lussier (Michael), 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sister Mary Donahue, brothers David J., Charles (Elizabeth), Peter (Cynthia), George (Lois), Richard (Mary, deceased), sister in law Mary, and 28 nieces and nephews, step sons David Boutin (Mary), Donald Boutin (Barbara), Daniel Boutin (Rose), step daughters Diane Fish (John), Denise Boutin, Deborah Hartford (Ernie) and 12 step grandchildren.

The family sends a heartfelt thanks to all those who helped including Neighbors Inc., Mid Coast Health, Chans and Spectrum Generations.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00a.m. on Friday, May 1 at All Saints Parish, St. Charles Borromeo Church at 132 McKeen Street in Brunswick, Maine.  Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery, East Longmeadow, MA will be on Saturday, May 2 at 1PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Dominican Nuns, Monastery of the Mother of God, 1430 Riverdale Street West Springfield, MA 01089-4698.

Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick, where memorial condolences may be expressed at
