Brunswick-Ruby Cole passed away February 22, 2016 unexpectedly at her home.   She was born in Brunswick in 1943 to Jeanne (Tondreau) and Albert Lester.   She was the youngest of 5 children, Albert, Barbara, Helen, and Jeannie. She moved to the Boston area in the early 60’s, returning to Maine in 1986.   Ruby adored her mother, many aunts, uncles, siblings and cousins and revered her Tondreau heritage.  She was a dedicated mother, aunt and grandmother and even retired early from a career at a large retail chain to assist with caring for her grandson who has autism.

Ruby had a flair for fashion and always stylish, she was as beautiful on the outside as she was on the inside.   She was bright and beautiful and joyously tackled home improvement and decorating projects including creating special play environments for her grand kids.  She cherished indulging her grandchildren and showering her and family and friends with love, joy and quite often a fabulous homemade feast.

Ruby enjoyed life and delighted in keeping her mom’s tradition of opening her heart and home to family and friends for festivities.  Her kind heart extended to the animal world as she had a soft spot for strays and rescue pets.

Ruby, like her name was a precious gem to all who had the privilege to know her, a wonderful treasure.

Ruby is survived by her daughter Bonnie Cole and grandson Christopher Cole of Brunswick and daughter Sharon Thompson, son-in-law Brandon Thompson, grandson Grant Thompson, great grandson Alec Thompson, granddaughter Ava Thompson of Nashua NH, her sister Barbara, sister in law Janice, as well as her much loved nieces and nephews and family.

There will be a gathering of Ruby’s family and friends to celebrate her life at Annabella's Bakery & Café, 2 Front Street Richmond Maine Saturday February 27th at 2:30.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the ASPCA at charity of your choice in her name.

Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St. Brunswick, where memorial condolences may be expressed at
