Simonne Tetu

Brunswick- Simonne Tetu, age 84 of Palmer St., died Thursday, March 31 at Mid Coast Hospital.  She was born March 3, 1932 in Topsham the daughter of Joseph and Eugenie Michaud Pelletier.

She attended St. John’s School and Morse High School and had to leave school to go to work at Verney Mill in order to help support her parents.  She later completed a GED and took courses in nutrition while raising her family.

On May 2, 1953, she married George Tetu.  They raised their family in Brunswick, and she worked at various Brunswick Schools in the cafeteria, was a seamstress and worked at Brunswick Naval Air Station.

Simonne was a talented seamstress and enjoyed working in her garden. She and her husband enjoyed travelling and went across country twice in their mobile home.   She always took care of people including her siblings, children and grandchildren.  She was a constant provider of love and support to her family.

She was a member of People Plus and a former member of the board of directors of the Curtis Library.

Surviving are her husband George Tetu of Brunswick, 5 children Thomas of West Bath, Timothy and his wife Sylvia of Brunswick, Michael of Bowdoinham, Lisa Nickerson and her husband Harold of Topsham, Lynn Yuodsnukis and her husband Alan of Brunswick, 7 grandchildren Noah, Olivia and Danielle Tetu, Kristie and Korin Nickerson, Alesa and Emily Yuodsnukis, sister Pauline Bouchard of Orlando, FL, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings Paul and George Pelletier, Freda LaMarque, Sr. Florence Pelletier, Claire Pelletier, Theresa Favreau, and Sr. Georgette Pelletier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 5 at 11AM at St. John the Baptist Church-All Saints Parish, Pleasant St., Brunswick.  Burial in Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John’s School, 39 Pleasant St., Brunswick, ME 04011
