Jean S. Brusila

June 19, 1926 - August 31, 2016
Jean Senger Brusila    Topsham-Jean S. Brusila, age 90, of Kent Circle died Wednesday, August 31 in a car accident.  She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 19, 1926, the daughter of Harry and Lillian Murphy Senger.  She attended Cincinnati schools and was a 1944 graduate of Walnut Hills High School.  She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Wellesley College in 1948.  After college, she worked for the federal government in Washington D.C. and for the U.S. Foreign Service in Bern, Switzerland.  On August 27, 1954, she married Arthur W. Brusila and lived in Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and Potomac, Maryland while raising her three daughters.  She returned to work for the federal government in 1971as a grants specialist for the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Department of Education.  She retired in 1986 and moved to the Highlands in Topsham, Maine in 2005.
While living in Topsham, Jean volunteered with the swimming program for school children with disabilities and was a docent at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath.  She participated in book clubs, knitting socials, and enjoyed music and theater events.  Jean relished social gatherings, especially summer evenings in the gazebo with her friends and neighbors.  She loved travel, and her adventurous spirit took her all over the world.  She rode camels in Egypt, hiked in the Himalayas, and rode her bike in the French countryside.  She enjoyed cruise travel on European rivers in her later years.  Holidays, family gatherings, and vacations together were always cherished by Jean, her children, and grandchildren.

Jean is dearly loved and will be missed by her daughter Barrie Brusila and her husband Mitch Kihn of Warren Maine, daughter Kristin Taylor and her husband Alan Taylor of Warrior’s Mark, Pennsylvania, daughter Sara Lynne Brusila of Starks,Maine,  brother Harry Senger and sister-in-law Nancy Senger of Wellesley, Massachusetts, and grandchildren Kendra, Erik, Leah, and Naomi.

There are no visiting hours and services were private.
