Charlotte I. Lemont

March 25, 1927 - January 29, 2017

Brunswick-Charlotte "Miss Charlotte” Lemont, age 89 passed away Sunday, January 29th at Dionne Commons.  She was born March 25, 1927 in Portland, the daughter of Clarence A. and Irene V. Cook Pennell. 

She attended Portland schools, moved to Brunswick and became involved in the local Grange. 

She worked at Woolworth’s and raised 3 children and 3 step-children in Brunswick.

She later worked at Auerbach Shoe, then Health Tex, where she eventually became the Union President.

She put her whole heart into her church, the Berean Baptist Church of Brunswick, giving 30 plus years to the Children’s Ministry.  She obtained her nick name of Miss Charlotte by watching the children of children thrive at the church.

She is predeceased by a grandson, Brad L. Levesque.She is survived by 3 children, Iris Davis of Brunswick, Bruce Lemont and his wife Robin of Munford, TN, and Gail Bartels and her partner Hartwell Prince of Harpswell, 3 step-children, John "Jack” Lemont of Sabattus, Donald Lemont and his wife Pat of Brunswick, and Robert Lemont of Germany, 2 sisters Betty Webb of Brunswick and Gerry Dile of CO, and numerous grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, February 3rd from 1-2PM at the Berean Baptist Church, 15 Cumberland St., Brunswick where a funeral service will follow at 2PM.  Burial in Varney Cemetery, Brunswick will be in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Mission Board of the Berean Baptist Church, 15 Cumberland St., Brunswick, ME 04011.
