Roger W. Segars

Topsham—Roger W. Segars, age 77 of Foreside Road, died Saturday, April 22nd at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.  He was born June 20, 1939 in New Gloucester, the son of Guy and Emily Bridgham Segars.

Roger attended New Gloucester Schools and graduated from New Gloucester High School, where he played basketball.

He moved to Brunswick in 1961.  He worked at Bath Iron Works from 1957 until his retirement in 2004.  On July 10, 1982 he married Christine Booth, she passed away on December 6, 2003.

Roger liked to hunt, fish, and hike in the woods, especially taking trips to Baxter State Park with his sons.  He bowled candlepins in the Senior League in Brunswick.  He also played the trombone in the Bath Municipal Band for many years.  Roger enjoyed watching the Patriots and the Red Sox.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He also enjoyed both working and playing at his cottage in Litchfield Tacoma Lakes.

He was a member of the Cumberland Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons #12 located in New Gloucester, Maine.

He is survived by his long-time companion Lorraine Lamarre of Topsham, 5 sons, Guy Segars and his wife Dawn of Brunswick, Jeffrey Segars and his wife Lori of Bowdoin, Keith Segars and his wife Linda of Lisbon Falls, Mike Booth and his wife Paula of Watertown, NY, and Robert Booth of Brunswick, 2 brothers, Ronald Segars and his wife Marilyn of Hopkinton, MA, and Charles Segars and his wife Linda of New Gloucester, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, April 26th from 4-7PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick, where a funeral service will be held Thursday, April 27th at 10AM.  Burial at Varney Cemetery, Brunswick will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coastal Humane Society, 190 Pleasant St., Brunswick, ME 04011 or to the United Methodist Church, 320 Church Road, Brunswick, ME 04011.
