Roland (Rollie) T. Babbin

March 11, 1930 - March 30, 2018

Topsham-Roland (Rollie) T. Babbin , age 88, of Foreside Road died Friday, March 30th,  peacefully at his home.  He was born in Greenville, March 11, 1930, the son of the late Everett J. and Frances L. (Charron) Babbin.  After graduating Greenville High School and Husson College, Bangor, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1951-1955.  His service as chief petty officer led him to both Dow Federal Credit Union, at Dow Air Force Base in Bangor, ME, and the Brunswick Naval Air Station Credit union, where he worked as a disbursement officer.  He retired after 27 years of service. 

Rollie loved to entertain, whether it be pool parties at his home, happy hours or dinners around his table.  He also loved spending time at the family camp on Moosehead Lake.  You could always count on Rollie to bring good conversations, wonderful food and memorable times.

He was a member of St. Charles Church in Brunswick and very active in the family group within the church.

He is survived by his sister, Kathleen (Babbin) Martin of Ludlow, MA; nephews: Robert Martin of Ludlow, MA; John Everett Martin of Somerville, MA,  and Darin Martin of Maui, HI.  A Niece Maureen Preston and husband William of Scarborough, ME. He was predeceased by his brother in law Gordon Martin, December 2017 and nephew Michael Martin, 2004.

He was "Uncle Rollie” to many and will be deeply missed by family and friends.  The family would especially like to thank Dan and Michelle Oram for their loving care and support of Rollie, as well as his close circle of friends and neighbors.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 14th at 11 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church-All Saints Parish, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick where a reception will immediately follow in the church hall.  Burial in Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, ME will take place in the spring.
