Edward B. Murphy

Brunswick-Edward B. Murphy age 86 of Baribeau Drive died peacefully on June 27th surrounded by his family. He was born in Syracuse, New York on August 9th, 1931, the son of Agnes Greene Murphy and Francis Patrick Murphy.  He was affectionately called "E.B.” by his family. He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, New York in 1949. He created wonderful memories with family on Skaneateles Lake, NY. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1954. After serving his country in the Army, he married Cynthia Anne Dyer of Rumford, Maine on September 14, 1957. Mr. Murphy was a successful paper product salesman. He was an accomplished pianist and was actively engaged in the Catholic Church, serving as an organist in many parishes.  He enjoyed spending time on Bailey Island and loved boating and fishing in Casco Bay in his Pulsifer Hampton boat.  He was a devoted grandfather. 

He is survived by his loving spouse Cynthia D. Murphy of Brunswick, daughter Deirdra A. Murphy and her husband, Stephen E. Moriarty of West Bath, son Edward B. Murphy IV (Bart) and his wife Laurie A. Murphy of Gardiner, son Thomas P. Murphy and his wife Jennifer L. Six of Houston, TX, son Brendan D. Murphy of Topsham, a sister Corinne Murphy of White Plains, NY. Edward is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by a brother, Francis P. Murphy, Jr, and his brother-in-law, Robert Alan Murphy.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, July 5th from 4-6 PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 6th at 11 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church- All Saints Parish 132 McKeen St. Brunswick. Interment will follow in Bailey Island Cemetery.
