Brunswick – Angelyn L. Medary 93, of Brunswick died Saturday, January 5,
2019.
Affectionately known as "Ann” or "Sis” to family and
friends, she was born on May 21, 1925 in Boothbay to Guy and Pretoria McComiskey
Lewis.
Ann attended schools in Boothbay, Woolwich, Bath and
Brunswick, and later graduated from Wilfred Academy in Boston as a certified
cosmetologist and licensed hairdresser.
She married William "Bill” Medary in 1952 and
accompanied him on assignments during his military tenure across the country
and Europe. She returned to Brunswick following her husband’s retirement from military
service and was the owner/operator of Ann’s Beauty Salon for roughly forty
years. In 1968, Ann and Bill purchased a large home on Belmont Street which
they partially converted to apartments and rented to college students and local
residents until her move in 2015. After her retirement, they wintered in
Dunedin, Florida until Bill’s death in 1997.
Ann enjoyed traveling, social gatherings with family
and friends, and hosting parties at her home including an annual lobster bake
in the backyard. With her sharp wit and zany personality—Ann loved to make people
laugh especially over a good cocktail. In her later years, she was a volunteer
at Mid Coast Hospital and People Plus.
Ann was predeceased by her beloved husband, a sister
Dorothy and her husband Ralph Morton, Sr. of Boothbay, a brother William Lewis
of Brunswick, brother Guy Lewis, Jr. and wife Rita of Topsham, brother Barry
Lewis and wife Jane of Brunswick, brother Robert Lewis and wife Beverly of
Rockport, and niece Carole Lewis of Topsham. She is survived by several generations
of nieces and nephews located in Maine, Kansas, Florida and Ohio. She will be
dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Brunswick in
the spring. Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick
