South Harpswell-Diana Marie Estes age 88 of Hurricane Ridge
Road died Thursday, May 2nd at the Androscoggin Home Health and
Hospice in Auburn.
She was born in Lewiston on October 6,1930 the daughter of
Leo and Elizabeth Spencer Donovan. She attended Auburn schools and was a 1949
graduated from Edward Little High School. For many years she spent time in
Harpswell with her parents at their summer place.
On October 7, 1950 she married Lewis Estes Sr. Mr. and Mrs.
Lewis lived in the greater Brunswick and Harpswell areas. For many decades
Diana worked as a bus driver for SAD 75.
Diana also worked extremely hard as a baker and was well
known as a creative wedding cake designer and baker. Diana also baked numerous pies and pastries
for local area restaurants until she was in her mid 70’s and retired Diana
enjoyed making gift boxes and card as well as making baby bonnets she displayed
at craft fairs.
Twenty-six times Diana enjoyed her travels to Ireland.
Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Corrao of New
Gloucester and Diane Pomerleau of Warren. Two sons, Michael Estes of Harpswell
and Gard Estes and his wife Georgi of Freeport. A sister, Elizabeth Robinson of
Massachusetts. Also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by a
son Lewis Estes Jr., a grandson Matthew Blackington, a brother Frederick
Donovan and a sister Leonis Donovan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM
Wednesday, May 8th at St. Charles Borromeo Church-All Saints Parish 132 McKeen
St. Brunswick with a reception to immediately follow in the parish hall.
Interment will be in West Harpswell Cemetery, Harpswell. Memorial donations may
be made to Androscoggin Hospice House 236 Stetson Road Auburn, Maine 04210.
