Darlene Alexander

West Bath-Darlene "Squawzie" Alexander, age 69, passed away in her Fosters Point Road home on Saturday, May 18, 2019 surrounded by her loving daughter Fern and nephew Dennis.

She was born on September 19, 1949 in Concord, NH the daughter of Howard and Fern Boston.

Darlene was a graduate of Wiscasset High School class of 1968. In her early life, she was a dedicated employee at the Chuck Wagon in Brunswick. After marrying the love of her life in 1980, husband John K Alexander, she went on to hold several culinary certifications and worked with both Bowdoin College and the Head Start program for many years. She graduated from Southern New Hampshire University in 2005 with a degree in Arts, which she used to teach in the Bath School system until her retirement in 2017.

She enjoyed membership at the American Legion Post Auxiliary 21, and adored all of her friends there.

Darlene enjoyed coloring and doing puzzles with her self-adopted sister, Diana Irish. She also enjoyed hunting, fishing with her father, luncheons with her classmates (the '68ers), reading her bible, going to church, pow-wows, singing karaoke, and spending time with her cherished friends and family.


A generous friend, an amazing mother, and treasured family member, Darlene was kind and giving to all.

She leaves behind her daughter Fern Thompson and husband Kenny of Virginia Beach, father Howard Boston of Belgrade, sister Donna Judkins of Kissimmee Fl, nephew Dennis Cotton of Starks, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her husband John K. Alexander, mother Fern M. Boston, brother Duane Boston, and son Trenton Hart.

Services will be held at the church where she was married, Church of the Nazarene in Cundy’s Harbor, on Saturday, June 1 at 12 P.M.  A celebration of life will follow at the American Legion Post 21 in Bath, ME.
