Brunswick-Sheldon
Samet age 89 died peacefully on October 22nd surrounded by his
family. He was born in Brooklyn August
27, 1930, the son of Rose and Irving Samet.
He attended Brooklyn schools and graduated Erasmus Hall High School in
1948.
On December 20, 1952
he married Armelle T. Sylvestre. Sheldon
served four years in the United States Navy.
He then owned and operated a dry cleaning establishment in Brooklyn, New
York until he retired in 1991.
He enjoyed bowling,
which he was president of the bowling league for many years. He also loved playing cards and golf. While living in Florida, he successfully ran
a monthly bus trip to the Hard Rock Café in Tampa. Sheldon "Sunshine Sammy” loved socializing
and had a tremendous sense of humor. He
was well known for his wit.
Surviving is his wife
Armelle. A son Jack of Florida. A
daughter Diane Arena and her husband Peter of Bath. A daughter Renee Buck of
Florida. Predeceased by a brother Edwin
of New York. A brother Jack and his wife
Anita of New Jersey. Three grandchildren
Corey, Courtney and Julian.
Visiting hours will be
held Tuesday, October 29th from 6-8PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12
Federal St. Brunswick. A graveside service with military honors will be held at
2 PM on Wednesday, October 30th at St. John’s Cemetery, Brunswick.
