Ahti E. Autio (1927-2020) passed peacefully at home, age 92, on April 19, 2020 surrounded by loving family members. Born in Friendship, Maine, the second youngest son of a dairy farmer, Hjalmar Autio, and his wife, Elina Ramanen, who were first generation immigrants from Finland. He was the last of his generation and survived all of his 10 siblings. He valued being of service to his country by joining the Marine Corps. He was accomplished in his pursuit of education by completing a Bachelor of Science at UNH followed by a Master of Science at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

His career spanned working at General Electric, at Mitre Corporation, and as a consultant to the state of Massachusetts in waste management resource and recovery. He was active during his retirement years by participating on various boards in Knox County, Maine, involving healthcare and finance. He was a Selectmen in the Town of Friendship, Maine, over a 5 to 6 year term. One of his great pleasures was playing tennis and was a cofounder of the Acton Indoor Tennis Association where he was able to play tennis year-round through the New England winters. A man of great Catholic faith, he was active as lector at his church. His faith provided him with great comfort, carrying him through until the end of his life. A devoted family man, he leaves behind a loving immediate and extended family who considered him one of their own.

Many thanks and appreciation for the care provided by hospice and home caregivers for their considerate support and guidance. A special thanks to Dr. John Love at Cardiovascular Consultants of Maine for years of exceptional care.
