Robert Adelard Racine

Bowdoinham-Robert Adelard Racine age 83 of Cemetery Road died Monday April 7th at the Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth.
He was born in Brunswick November 8, 1924 the son of Adelard and Lucy Moreau Racine.
He attended St. John’s Parochial School and was a1942 graduate of Brunswick High School.  As a young man he earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts.  During WW II he served in the Navy. After the war he attended Bowdoin College graduating in 1950.
In July of 1991, he was predeceased by his wife Yvonne who he married January 26, 1950.
For a couple of years Mr. Racine owned a grocery store today known as "Uncle Tom’s Market" and then served as a police detective sergeant for the town of Brunswick.
For twenty years until retiring in 1984 Robert worked as a postman for the Postal Service.
He enjoyed the quality time that he spent with his family, as his family meant everything to him. Robert enjoyed fishing with is wife and also enjoyed owning several little dogs over the years.
Surviving is a son Robert H. Racine of VA. Two daughters Belinda Racine Dow and Betty Lou Racine both of Bowdoinham.  Four grandchildren Hollis Dow Jr., Adam and Alice Racine all of VA and Austin Racine of Martha’s Vineyard, MA. A great grandson H. Gaven Dow also of VA.
A celebration of his life will be held Friday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to the Coastal Humane Society 30 Range Road, Brunswick, ME  04011. Memorial condolences may be expressed and a video tribute may be viewed at stetsonsfuneralhome.com
