Fredericka Estella Fortin

Brunswick-Fredericka E. Fortin age 87 formerly of Garrison St. died Monday October 15th at Parkview Adventist Medical Center.

She was born in Kingsclear New Brunswick, Canada September 20, 1920 the daughter of William A. and Nellie M. Burgoyne Kieley and attended local schools. Learning the nursing profession, she worked at Wilson Hospital in Brunswick.

When WWII began she returned to New Brunswick where she worked on the family farm.

On September 4, 1944 she married Fulgence Charles Joseph Fortin in Montreal. He died December 1, 1959.

After their marriage she returned to the United States where she raised her family of eight children. Mrs. Fortin also worked in private duty nursing and taught CCD.

She enjoyed opera and classical music. Mrs. Fortin also loved reading, quilting and was knowledgeable about collecting antiques.

She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church.

Surviving are three daughters Ellen Brown and her husband Greg of Casco, Mary Rausa and her partner Mark Russell of Brunswick and Carmen Hetherington and her husband Seth of Harpswell. Three sons Blaine Fortin and his wife Pam of Bowdoinham, John Fortin and his wife Margaret of Topsham and Danny Fortin of Brunswick. Two sisters Florence Bernard of Alberta, Canada and Anne Lavoie of Canada. Also survived by eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was also predeceased by a son Stephen Fortin in 2000 and a daughter Estella Raymond in 2007.

Visiting hours will be 6-8 PM Thursday at Stetson's Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Friday at St. Charles Borromeo Church McKeen St. Brunswick. Interment will be at a later date in St. John's Cemetery, Brunswick.
