Frances Arlene Martin

Frances Arlene Martin, 79, of Brunswick, died Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Hawthorne House in Freeport.
She was born in Brunswick on March 8, 1928, the daughter of the late William J. and Dora Buker Labbe. She was educated in the Brunswick school system. On April 17, 1950 she married William Martin. She spent a large part of her life as a Navy wife in Norfolk where she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising their daughter. They later moved to Sanford, Florida where they spent their retirement years. She and her husband were very much involved in the organization The Loyal Order of the Moose in Sanford where they were both officers. She was also a member of the National Wildlife Federation and was an avid reader. She reaped much joy and satisfaction from this volunteer work. She returned to Brunswick in 1999 to be close to family and to the place where she could enjoy the ocean, lighthouses and everything about the coast of Maine.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Martin, June 30, 1987, and two sisters, Marilyn Labbe and Mary Labbe. She is survived by a daughter, Doreen Fay Mann and her husband, Gregory Mann of Lisbon; a sister, Susan Labbe Daley and her husband Jack of Gorham, Maine; two brothers, William P. Labbe, Sr. and his wife Pamalee of Harpswell; and David Labbe and his wife Teri of Brunswick. Survivors also include many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private at her request.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt word of thanks to the staff of the Hawthorne House in Freeport for all they did. Their care and kindness made her last few months as comfortable as possible. Also a special thank you to the staff of Beacon Hospice for their kindness and generous support. Memorial donations may be made to the Hawthorne House Activities Fund 6 Old County Road, Freeport, ME 04032.
