Florence Flossie M. Alexander

Cundy’s Harbor-Florence “Flossie” May Alexander age 80 of Oakherst Island died Friday January 9th at Coastal Manor in Yarmouth.

She was born in Harpswell September 24, 1928 the daughter of Charles E. and Ethel W. Darling Lumbert. Flossie attended Cundy’s Harbor and Brunswick schools.

On July 20, 1946 she married Aubrey G. Alexander. He died February 2, 1979.

For twenty six years she worked as a telephone operator for Regional Memorial Hospital and then worked six years as a telephone operator at Parkview Adventist Hospital.

Flossie was a spiritual, kind, honest loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She earned the respect, love and friendship from everyone she met. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Flossie was an avid Red Sox fan. She enjoyed frequent trips on Maine-Line Tours, gardening, crocheting, knitting, and sitting by her picture window watching the birds eat and the tide roll in.

She was a member of the Cundy’s Harbor Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving is a son John Alexander and his wife Darlene of West Bath. A daughter Margaret “Peggy” Alexander of Cundy’s Harbor. A brother Robert Lumbert of Cundy’s Harbor. Six grandchildren Melissa Alexander of Titusville, FL.; Melanie Alexander of Marble, NC; Dennis Cotton of Starks; Pegi-Ann Cotton of Harpswell; Nina Miller of Dunn, NC and Fern Thompson of Virginia Beach, VA. Also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was also predeceased by two sons Ernest G. and Andrew B. Alexander. A brother Walter Hutchins and a grandson Trenton Hart.

Visiting hours will be held 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A funeral service will be Wednesday 1 PM at the funeral home with the Pastor Veronica Gonsior officiating. A celebration of her life will continue at the American Legion Banquet Hall Post 21, Congress Street, Bath immediately following the service.

Interment services will be announced by Stetson’s Funeral Home in the spring at the Cranberry Horn Cemetery, Cundy’s Harbor.
