Following his naval career, Al worked for 10 years as a Crash Investigator at Sikorsky Helicopters in Stratford, CT, commuting home to Brunswick on weekends. After that, he worked at LL Bean for another 10 years, mostly in Returns, before retiring permanently.
In 1963 he met and married Eileen Wiesner, a mother of four small children - Larry, Lauren, Jeff and Mark. Al and Eileen added four more children - Tracy, Amy, Alan, and Matt.
While in the Navy, they lived in Lakehurst NJ, Kingsville TX, Quonset Point RI, Virginia Beach VA, and Corpus Christi TX, where Al retired. They then moved to Brunswick, ME and have lived here for 42 years.
Aside from his family, his big love was his dogs, mainly Basset Hounds, two Golden Retrievers, and a Newfie.
