Obituary

Harpswell- Angie A. Laverdiere, age 90 of Harpswell Island Road, died Thursday May 8th at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta. She was born September 22, 1923 in Syracuse, NY the daughter of Samuel and Mattie Vincquera Palmisano. She attended Syracuse, NY schools and received a nursing degree from the University of Rochester. She worked for Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester as an R.N., then served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years as a Wave during the Korean Conflict. She moved to Harpswell , ME in 1966, worked for the VA Togus for 2 years and then worked 30 years for MidCoast Hospital, retiring in 1994. Angie was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Drives and was a member of the Harpswell American Legion. She was an avid baker and was known for her fabulous sugar cookies. She is survived by her son, Tech. Sgt. Michael Laverdiere USAF(Ret.), and her daughter Elizabeth Allen, both of Harpswell, sister Francis Lawless of Syracuse, NY, grandchildren Melissa Laverdiere of West Paris and Dannielle Allen of Harpswell and 3 step-grandchildren. She is predeceased by 4 brothers, Anthony, Joseph, Angelo and Peter Palmisano, and 2 sisters, Mary Crandall and Carmella Sajna. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 12th at 10 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church-All Saints Parish, 132 McKeen St, Brunswick. Burial at Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, will be at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by Stetson's Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick, where memorial condolences may be expressed and a video tribute viewed at stetsonsfuneralhom.com.
