TOPSHAM -- Arlene P. Kearney, 91, of Governor's Way died Tuesday, November 12 at Cadigan Lodge, The Highlands, in Topsham. She was born in Danielson, Connecticut on August 7, 1922, the daughter of Dieudonne and Antonia Page.   She attended Danielson schools and graduated from Killingly High School in 1940. She then attended St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, Conn. and graduated in 1943. After graduation, she worked at St. Francis Hospital as an operating room nurse. A World War II veteran, Mrs. Kearney was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1945 and served as an operating room nurse in Naples, Italy near the end of the war. She was honorably discharged in 1946. On September 24, 1949, she married John J. Kearney. He passed away on November 6, 1989 in Cundy's Harbor, Maine. Mrs. Kearney took time away from work to raise her family in the 1950s and 1960s, living in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. In 1967, she returned to nursing as an operating room nurse and supervisor at Raritan Valley Hospital in Greenbrook, New Jersey. In 1982, she and her husband retired and moved to Cundy's Harbor, where she lived until 2005 when she moved to The Highlands.   She enjoyed many things in life including traveling, being with her friends, and collecting antiques, but most important in her life was her family. She was a kind, loving, and generous person who put others' needs before her own. She is survived by: her two sons, J. Michael Kearney and his wife, Deborah of Dedham, Maine, and William B. Kearney and his wife, Caryn of Beverly, Mass.; a brother, Rene J. Page of Mansfield, Mass.; two cherished grandsons, Daniel T. Kearney and his wife Jillian of the Sultanate of Oman, and Matthew B. Kearney and his wife Jeani of Los Angeles, Ca.; and one adorable great-granddaughter, Rory S. Kearney of the Sultanate of Oman. A visiting hour will be held Monday, November 18th from 11:30AM-12:30PM at Stetson's Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow Monday, November 18th at 1PM at St. Charles Borromeo Church 132 McKeen St. Brunswick. Committal prayers with military honors will be held Tuesday, November 19th at 1PM at Holy Cross Cemetery, Maple St. Danielson, CT. Memorial condolences may be expressed at stetsonsfuneralhome.com
