Obituary

Brunswick- "Larry" Armand Joseph Larochelle, 87, of Brunswick, Maine, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025. Known for his bigger than life personality, humor, big hugs, beautiful singing voice and love for his family. Born in Methuen, Massachusetts, on June 22, 1938, Larry had a bigger than life personality and always had a Hug for everyone he greeted. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather. Larry proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years under numerous commands and in various billets. His proudest service was as a Flight Engineer on the "Super Connie" in one of the first military Hurricane Hunter Squadrons, VW-4, where he logged over 1,000 flight hours and earned the Distinguished Air Medal. After his military career, Larry continued his career as a Postal Carrier in Bath Maine for over 20 years. He was a dedicated member of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Inc.) for more than 50 years. He was also a key member of the Nor'easters Barbershop and Quartet group. He performed in a number of Gilbert & Sullivan music productions. He served the community through many years of involvement with Brunswick American Legion Post 20. Larry had a talent and love of woodworking, genealogy—as soon as you became a member of his extended family you were added to our family tree and he was on the hunt to track down your genealogy as well. He also enjoyed his "coffee breaks," visiting with locals and diner wait staff who have expressed their love for him and his Hugs. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 69 years, Mary Ann Larochelle (Ampollone); daughter Susanne Audette and her husband Todd; grandsons Matthew (Amanda), Tony, and Nick; great-grandchildren Lena and Roland; son Joseph Larochelle; and daughter Gwynn and granddaughter Merideth. He was preceded in death by his mother Yvonne B. Larochelle, father and sisters Lucille B. Ward and Jeanette Carabello. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
