BERNICE R. HOLBROOK of Brunswick passed away on August 3, 2011, at Mid-Coast Hospital in Brunswick, after battling stomach cancer and diabetes. She was 85. Born in Brunswick, ME, the daughter of Samuel S. Holbrook and Ruth (Grovo) Holbrook, Ms. Holbrook graduated from Brunswick High School and attended Lasel Junior College and the University of Maine. She taught at Mexico High School in Mexico, ME from many years. Following retirement, she returned to Brunswick and assisted in her father's business, the Pine Spring Water Company.   Miss Holbrook was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church in Brunswick. She was also actively involved in Toastmasters and in International Training in Communication (ITC). She served as regional president of ITC. Miss Holbrook enjoyed spending time at the family cottage at Merepoint and traveled throughout the United States and Canada. She is survived by her brother, Sumner S. Holbrook of Greenland, NH, her two nephews, Seth S. Holbrook of Melrose, MA, and Dwight C. Holbrook of Greenland, NH, as well as many cousins. Visiting hours will take place from 9:00-10:00 AM on Saturday, August 13th at Stetson's Funeral Home 12 Federal St., Brunswick, followed by service at 10:00 AM.
