Topsham-David William Valek age 66 of Williams Drive died Wednesday, September 8th at the Mid Coast Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 3, 1944 the son of Richard and Ella Hanson Valek. On September 30, 1967 he married Judy Martin. David was a 22 year veteran of the United States Navy retiring in 1984. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family. David also enjoyed bowling, golf, cribbage, trains and traveling. David was a member of The Maine State National Bowling Hall of Fame and a longtime member of the Brunswick Area Bowling Association. Surviving is his wife Judy Valek of Topsham. Three children Rhonda Guptill and her husband Mike of Brunswick, Kimberly Valek-Molnar and her husband Pete of Richmond and Richard Valek and his wife Cathy of Bowdoinham. Seven grandchildren Leyna, Lauren and Adam Valek; Alexis and Joshua Guptill; Andrew and Jacob Molnar. Visiting hours will be held Monday September 13th from 2-4 & 6-8PM at Stetson's Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 14th at 11 am at All Saints Parish-St. Charles Borromeo Church 132 McKeen St. Brunswick. Committal prayers with military honors will follow at 1PM at The Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Mt. Vernon Road Augusta.
