Obituary

Topsham-Dorothy F. Goodenow age 79 of Middlesex Road died Tuesday, March 16th at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born in Chelsea April 27, 1930 the daughter of Stanley and Regina Morgan Sherman. Dorothy was a 1948 graduate of Gardiner High School. Dorothy was a homemaker devoted to raising her family. On October 25, 1969 she married John A. Goodenow Jr. Dorothy was loved by everyone. Being true kind at heart she sewed, knitted and crocheted clothes, quilts and mittens for all her children, grandchildren and great grand children. Every year she would make two to three hundred pairs of mittens that her son and daughter would deliver all over Brunswick day cares, homeless shelters, schools and to the Santa Claus Fund. Dorothy also baked for her family and friends and enjoyed motorcycle riding. Surviving besides her husband of Topsham is a son Steven David Bailey of Gardiner and a daughter Alice Mary Bailey of Brunswick. Three stepsons John Goodenow III and Jeff Goodenow of Topsham and Joey Goodenow of Harpswell. A brother Richard Sherman of Chelsea and two sisters Helen Coutts of Randolph and Nellie Pushard of Gardiner. Also survived by twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. At Mrs. Goodenow's request services will be private. Interment will be in Maquoit Cemetery, Brunswick, Me 04011. Memorial donations may be made to either the Charity of one's choice or the Coastal Humane Society 30 Range Road Brunswick. Arrangements are by Stetson's Funeral Home and memorial condolences may be expressed at stetsonsfuneralhome.com
