Portland- Elizabeth A. Fortin, age 89 of Freeport and formerly of Country Lane, Brunswick, died Saturday, August 9th at Maine Medical Center. She was born March 10, 1925 in Bath, the daughter of Joseph and Teresa Conley Clancy.
She attended Fort Fairfield schools and graduated from Bath High School in 1943. She attended the Golden Beauty and Culture School in Portland, and became a hairdresser for a short time until her marriage to Eugene "Pete" Fortin on September 28, 1946. He passed away on January 11, 1985.
Betty was a home maker and also, along with her husband, owned and operated Fortin Fuel and Lumber from 1949 until 1959. She then worked with her husband in their income tax and real estate business, Clifford-Fortin Real Estate.
Besides her husband Pete, she is predeceased by one great-grandchild, Simon Eli Clark Fortin.
She is survived by a son, J. Daniel Fortin of Lake Havasu City, AZ, a daughter-in-law Pamela Fortin of Timberlea, Nova Scotia, 4 grandchildren, Michelle, Joseph, Beth and Kate, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, August 13th from 6 to 8PM at Stetson's Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 14th at 11AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church-All Saints Parish, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick. Burial beside her husband will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Brunswick.
