Venice, Florida- Elizabeth "Betty" Mary Murphy, age 86 of Wordsworth Way and formerly of Brunswick died Tuesday, April 17th at Venice Regional Hospital.
She was born in New York City, NY April 18, 1920 the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Leary.
In July of 1950 she married James Edward Murphy who served as the Brunswick Naval Air Station Fire Chief. He died on June 17, 1989. For over forty years, Mrs. Murphy resided in Brunswick and for the last several years she has resided with her daughters in Venice, Florida and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Surviving are two daughters, Constance Dodge and her husband Terry of Venice, FL and their children Nicole and Matthew Dodge. Joan Powers and her husband Kevin of Albuquerque, NM and their children Megan and Kameron Powers. A sister Winnifred Leary of Danbury, CT and a brother Robert Leary of Palm Coast, FL. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers John and Fred Leary.
Visiting hours will be 6-8Pm Monday at Stetson's Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick, ME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Tuesday at St. Charles Borromeo Church, McKeen St., Brunswick with the Rev. Stephen Concannon officiating.
