Lincoln, RI —Gloria J. O'Connell 81, of South Harpswell, died Sunday night, November 28th, at the Greenville Rehabilitation surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 7, 1929, in Lewiston, the daughter of Belanie and Leda (Paradis) Saucier and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1947.
On May 20, 1949, she married Paul F O'Connell at St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Lewiston. They were able to travel the world with the Air Force. Paul and Gloria retired back to Lewiston and South Harpswell, Maine. Together they owned and operated Chucks Superette in Lisbon Falls for 10 years. Gloria also worked at Lewiston Regional Vocational High School as a secretary for the guidance office for 7 years.
She is survived by her son Paul F. O'Connell Jr. of Austin TX, daughter Karen Isiko of Salt Lake City UT., and son Shawn O'Connell of Cumberland, RI. She was a wonderful grandmother of 5, and great grandmother of 3.
She was predeceased by her husband Paul in 2006; and brother, Al Saucier in 1999.
We will miss her sense of humor and her warm spirit.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, December 2nd from 5-7PM at Stetson's Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick, where a funeral service will follow at 7PM with the Rev. Frank Murray officiating. Burial will be held Friday, December 3rd at 10AM at Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
