TOPSHAM - James F. "Jim" Bartlett Jr., 78, of Topsham, Maine, passed away on Saturday, August 8th, 2026, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
Born in 1948, Jim made his home at 2 Ward Road in Topsham, where he lived with his beloved wife, Alice.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife Alice Bartlett; his brother, Dwight Bartlett, and wife Janice; nephew, Isaac Jonathan Bartlett, and a niece, Leigh Stillwell and husband Brett.
Jim spent a significant portion of his career working at Bath Iron Works (BIW), where he was known as a hardworking and dedicated employee. He was also a skilled craftsman in woodworking, spending many days in his workshop crafting various products to sell.
In his younger years, Jim was active in the Jaycees and enjoyed the friendships and community involvement that organization provided. He was also a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous and took great pride in the recovery chips he collected over the years, reflecting a journey marked by determination and perseverance.
One of Jim's most memorable qualities was his gift of conversation. He could talk with just about anyone and had a natural ability to make people feel comfortable and welcome. Whether sharing stories, exchanging ideas, or simply enjoying a friendly chat, Jim's outgoing personality left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Jim was a man of Catholic faith, and that faith remained an important part of his life throughout the years.
Per Jim’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Attendance will be by invitation only.
Jim will be remembered for his resilience, his friendly spirit, his dedication to recovery, and his ability to connect with others through conversation and companionship. He will be missed by family and friends who knew him.
