BRUNSWICK-Joan Johnson, age 93 of Brunswick passed away Monday, August 1, 2022 at Mid Coast Hospital. She was born in Portland, ME on February 26, 1929 the daughter of Joseph P. And Cleo Swett Tenneson. She was raised in Topsham and attended Brunswick schools. She married Granville Johnson on August 24, 1948. They raised a family in Brunswick and Bowdoinham. She worked for Bass Shoes in Bowdoinham, Smart's Nursing Home in Topsham, and Parkview Hospital, retiring in 1994. She loved to watch the Red Sox and to knit. She cared for many dogs over her lifetime. She also liked spending time with her grandchildren and family get togethers in the back yard. She is survived by her children, Lawrence and partner Sharon, of Akron, OH, Wayne and his wife Diane of Lewiston, Lori Stevens and her husband Herb of Bowdoinham, Wendy Gerrish and her husband Bert of San Antonio, TX, brother Alfred Tenneson of Topsham, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Granville, brother Joseph Peter Tenneson, sisters Marilyn Smart, Barbara Tenneson, and grandson Matthew Stevens. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 12:30PM in the Chapman Room at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 980 Turner St., Auburn.
