Brunswick — Laura Boldt Baecher, 64, died at her home on October 6 in the company of her
family.
Laura was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey on September 23, 1958, the daughter of James and
Helen Boldt. She graduated from Ridgewood High School, then attended St. Lawrence
University where she earned a degree in Fine Arts and met her future husband. She moved to
Maine in 1981.
Loving mother and wonderful friend to many, Laura treasured her children, large family, and
numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She enjoyed her work and especially her
colleagues in her various jobs at Portland Museum of Art, Tontine Fine Candies, Douglas
Richmond Architects, and Bigelow Investment Advisors, bringing warmth and exceptional
ability to each. She loved children, volunteering with Arts Are Elementary and Foreign
Language for Youth, and was a favorite aunt to many. Her baking and desserts were
universally loved and anticipated.
Laura is survived by her husband of 36 years, Peter; son Graham; daughter Claire and her
spouse Regan; sisters Ellen Kaiser; Judi Haly; Kathleen Boldt; brothers Joseph Boldt and his wife
Ginger; Dan Boldt and his wife Maria; and James Boldt and his wife Ginger; and numerous
cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A private burial service will be held soon. A Celebration of Life will be held in several weeks.
